Mugabe, President for Life

Robert Mugabe could be made President for Life - of the Zimbabwe Cricket Association. He would be perfect for the job!

He loves cricket, is already the patron of cricket in Zimbabwe - and although he patronised its virtual destruction in the last few years, this would be his chance to make good.

Business Day in South Frica, in their April 1st edition, ran a story that Robert Mugabe announced Zimabwe’s bid for the world cup cricket in 2015, and its kicking off his campaign with plans for new stadium in Harare.

Great story, but hey, if you think about it, not so foolish after all. If we gave Bob the job, it would be a win-win situation:

- Zim gets to see its past president in an honourable and respected post, as is proper in African traditions.

- Bob gets to keep his title, to which he has become addicted. (I supose Grace could be the First Cricketing Lady). He could thus stay out of politics but still keep himself busy hob-nobbing with all the top world officials, give press conferences and generally be given the best seats at matches, just like before. He may even be invited to tea with the queen again!

His reputation for ‘incorruptibility’ would be put to the test (in several test matches) and surely this time he would be careful to present a clean nose to the world....

Go-waaaaay!
